News and reminders in 4net
Keep up with app updates and subscription expiry on iPhone and iPad. You decide whether to allow notifications.
App news
- Open 4net → Settings → News.
- Turn on 4net news. If iOS asks for notification permission, tap Allow.
- Tap a notification to open the News section, where recent messages are also available.
Turn news off
In 4net, open Settings → News and turn off 4net news. You can also change the system permission in iPhone settings. If your device is offline, the server receives your opt-out when the app reconnects. A notification already handed to the system may still arrive.
Subscription expiry reminders
4net can remind you when a subscription is due to expire if your provider supplies an expiry date and enables reminders. iOS notification permission is required. This feature is separate from app news: turning off 4net news does not change your subscription expiry or reminder settings.
Data used for news
For delivery, the 4net server receives a notification token, a random installation identifier, a public key and signed-request metadata. Apple receives the token and notification text through APNs. Subscription URLs and keys, and provider HWIDs are not sent in news requests. After opt-out, the server removes the token when the request succeeds; see the privacy policy for retention and technical IP processing. Do not put private details or keys in message text.
Provider news
Refresh your subscription to load your provider’s public news channel. Allow news when prompted or open Settings → News and enable the channel. You can disable each provider separately without affecting your VPN connection.
Delivery uses the channel identifier and subscription domain, not the full subscription URL, secret or HWID. This is a public information channel, not proof of a paid subscription.
